Classification of zinc and its compounds

In order to inform properly professionals –customers, importers, transporters, …-, an internationally accepted classification of existing substances has been developed. This classification system is based on hazards, and not on identified and assessed risks

•          For ZINC IN MASSIVE FORM – ingots, slabs, sheet, galvanized parts, …- no classification is required

•          FOR ZINC OR ITS COMPOUNDS IN POWDERY FORM, - i.e. Zn-powder, Zinc oxide, …- due to their sparingly solubility need to be classified “R 50-53” : very toxic for the aquatic environment and need to be labelled, packaged and transported accordingly

•           This information is among others, provided in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) accompanying our products
